Staff Therapists Thomas Howley, MA, LPC, NCC A licensed Professional Counselor and Fellow with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, Tom currently serves as the Integration Equity and High Potential Coordinator for the North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale School District. Tom's areas of specialization in counseling include: adolescence, multicultural issues, sexual identity and spirituality. He also has extensive experience working with people on the following issues: depression, anxiety, grief/loss and relationships. Tom has offered workshops on a variety of topics including: "Spiritual Perspectives in Coming Out," "Self-Care in Parenting" and "Countertransference and Other Issues in Care-giving."
Ellen Rusin, MSW, LGSW
Ellen's areas of concern often include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, grief/loss, self-esteem, relationships, communication, separation and divorce. In addition, Ellen provides coaching for parents working to improve parenting skills or those facing difficult issues with their children. She also offers workshops on family life and parenting, developing healthy communication and relationships, sibling connections, teaching children about sexuality, and family meetings.
Sanctuary Consultant Merle Fossum, MSW, LMFT, co-founder of St. Paul's Family Institute, teacher, supervisor and clinician since 1963, offers regular consultation to Sanctuary's staff.
